Georgia Drivers: Insurance is something we all hate to pay for. Most of us might even get the minimum coverage required to have to lowest premiums possible. Is that really the best idea? Probably not. If you are ever in a car accident, it can be life changing. Not only for you, but for your entire family. You need to protect yourself and your family as much as possible from the unknown.

Georgia personal injury attorney, Ashley Brodie, walks you through MUST HAVE insurance coverage so you can have that peace of mind that you and your loved ones are protected in case a life changing accident comes your way.

Uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage is vital.

Why is uninsured motorist coverage so important? It protects you if an uninsured or underinsured driver causes an accident and causes you damage or injury. Without it, you could be left without recourse to recover your damages. Approximately 1 in 8 drivers in Georgia do NOT have any insurance. That is a high percentage of uninsured drivers on the road. For those drivers that do have insurance, many only have the minimum required amount of liability coverage:

  • Bodily Injury Liability: $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident
  • Property Damage Liability: $25,000 per accident

Anyone that has ever been in an accident or injured in an accident knows that those minimum amounts can quickly be met in even the most minor accidents. That’s why it is important to have uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage. When you have uninsured motorist coverage, your own insurance company will compensate you for any damages you receive in excess of the at-fault driver’s liability coverage.
